Must be private or higher
Pilot experience; Must be a Certified CASARA Pilot. Not less than 200hrs Pilot in Command. Must have completed one (1) hour pilot in command in the previous 60 days on an aircraft of similar type and performance. Must meet or exceed all Transport Canada flight criteria for the intended flight
Aircraft Type: Must be an aircraft approved for CASARA operations. Must meet all Transport Canada Standards appropriate to the aircraft and intended flight. (Shall not have a restricted Cof A)
Flight Details: This flight shall be conducted for the sole purpose of spotter training in accordance with the course-training plan, and will last approximately one hour. The flight will be conducted not less than 1000ft above ground level (AGL). All such spotter flights shall be conducted in accordance with CASARA spotter training policies. Flight plans shall be filed. This flight will be conducted in weather conditions approved by Transport Canada for visual flight rules (VFR), and in addition the ceiling and visibility shall be 2000 and 3 or better.
This training is in accordance with the Introduction to Search and Rescue training program and is recommended.

Part II Insurance
Insurance applicable to Flight Center Aircraft shall apply to all CASARA flights conducted in such aircraft.
Insurance for privately owned aircraft shall meet the following criteria:
2. The Air Cadet League of Canada and The Department of National Defence (DND) shall be added to the owner’s insurance policy as an adfitional named insured with respect to liability.
